Lauzerte, a fortified village in the white Quercy, is your first stop in Tarn et Garonne. It is one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France", villages recognized for the quality of their heritage, their architecture and their environment. Enjoy this stop and discover our heritage: streets and houses of the medieval city, garden of the pilgrim, scenic points and views over  the surrounding valleys, restaurants and artistic cafés, lifestyle....

Lauzerte gives you access to shops and services useful to your trip:

⦁ Health: doctors, nurses, pharmacy, physiotherapist, osteopath, optician, ambulances, chiropodists, Veterinarian.

⦁ Shops:

center of the village: bakeries, grocery store, fresh fruits and vegetables, butcher-caterer, local traditional products, cafes and restaurants, craftsmen, postcards.

In the lower part of the village: bakery, supermarket, cafes and restaurants, tobacco, postcards.

⦁ services: post office, bank and ATM, internet access and W-LAN, Office of Tourism, library.

⦁ markets: On Saturday mornings, throughout the year, place des cornières, and on Wednesday mornings, throughout the year, in the charming Faubourg Auriac. Gourmet markets (possibility to eat on the spot) on Thursday evening in July/August.

The GR65 from Montlauzun to Durfort Lacapelette

On the path between Montlauzun and Durfort Lacapelette, discover several outstanding elements of the heritage of nature, history and architecture.

⦁ Landscape of the "serres": outcrops of limestone and clay of clear color bordering the plains alternating with narrow parallel valleys.

⦁ Montlauzun. Small panoramic village.

⦁ Saint Juliet. Flowered village marking the entry point of the GR65 into Tarn et Garonne.

⦁ Lauzerte. This medieval town is built on a cliff. To discover: "La place des cornières" , the church of Saint Bartholomew, the Barbican, The Garden of the pilgrim, medieval houses of the Grand Rue, the place and the garden of the breach, the street of the Town Hall, the place of the castle, the walk of the awake. Flyers of the visit are distributed at the Office of Tourism.

⦁ Dovecote of the Chartron. Seigneurial pigeon tower on columns with chapel, attached to the former Priory of the Chartron (private property), established by the order of the Carthusians of Cahors in the XVth century.

⦁ Chapel of Saint Sernin of Bosc. In a valley with the sweet name "Combe of honey", stands this pretty Romanesque chapel (11th century, classified as a historical monument) of modest proportions but interesting: semi-circular apse and quarter-sphere vault, triangular bell tower gable wall, roman cornice with modillions.

⦁ Durfort Lacapelette. Village which makes the link between the countries of the white Quercy and the communes of the plain of the Tarn et Garonne. On its sunny hillsides ripen the grapes of the Chasselas de Moissac.
